In early Manitou, Colorado’s first health resort, it was all about the water. The effervescent, mineral-laden spring water drew visitors from all over the world searching for the cure. This yearly summer migration attracted physicians as well to help them on their journey to health or to record their unfortunate passing. The water also appealed to entrepreneurs who wanted to bottle it, sell it, create bathing facilities for it, and house the people who craved it. This exhibit tells the story of those health seekers and who they met along their path to recovery.
