It Takes a Village
We couldn’t do it with you! The Manitou Springs Heritage Museum values our volunteers for the time, talent and spirit they contribute to the Museum, and we recognize the crucial role they play in connecting us to our community. We provide meaningful opportunities for service and support our volunteers as they assist us in fulfilling our mission, while acquiring new skills along the way. Most volunteers perform year-round work, but many are also needed for special projects. There are many ways in which you can volunteer at the Museum.
Leadership
The Museum may have opportunities for board or committee participation. Boards and committees provide overall leadership for the Museum and these opportunities utilize specialized skills in governance issues, fundraising, membership, marketing and similar areas.
Exhibits & Events
We need volunteers to help develop exhibits and educational events which provide Museum visitors with a fun and educational experience. Exhibit Curators and Docents who give tours are a group of individuals who are committed to educating the public about the rich history of Manitou Springs and the Pikes Peak region.
Research & Collections
Are you interested in working in the Museum collections and archives? Volunteers for this work must have a serious interest in the subject matter and have a regular time commitment. Previous education in the subject is not required. The supervising archivist and research coordinator are willing to train the interested volunteer in doing the specialized research work.
Front Desk & Museum Store
Volunteers assist by staffing the receptions desk, greeting visitors, responding to visitor inquiries, answering the phone, or assisting in the Museum Store with point of sales, inventory, pricing, cleaning and merchandising. These volunteers make an important first impression on the public for the Heritage Museum.
