The Manitou Springs Heritage Center and Museum and the Mineral Springs Foundation proudly co-host a symposium fundraiser in celebration of Manitou Springs Waterfest. Guest speakers include-

10:00-11:00 am Presentation and Exhibit: “Manitou’s Early Mineral Water Culture: How It All Began.” Deborah Harrison is a local author and co-founder of our Museum and will be exploring the effect of the mineral springs on the evolution of its unique culture from the 1870s to the 1920s, when the allure of the springs began to give way to commercial tourism.

11-11:15am Presentation: “The Spirit of SunWater Spa”. Kat Tudor will discuss the spiritual power and work behind the opening of SunWater Spa. Kat is the co-owner of SunWater Spa. Her artistic endeavors in Southern Colorado are exemplary, fun, and profound.

11:15-11:30 Presentation: “Under SunWater Spa.” Don Goede will talk about the relationship between Manitou’s aquifer and SunWater Spa. Don is co-owner of SunWater Spa and a local community activist.

11:30-12pm Presentation: “Mineral Water is Medicine”. Larry Cesspooch will talk about the medicinal relationship between the Ute People and the mineral waters of Manitou. Larry is a Ute Spiritual Leader and grew up on the Uintah and Ouray Ute Reservations in Northeastern Utah.
