Come join us at the best seat in town as Doris McCraw presents “Under the Stone: Early Women Doctors in Evergreen Cemetery”. Doris is an Author, Speaker and Historian, specializing in Colorado and Women’s History.
The Manitou Springs Heritage Center is proud to sponsor this informative 1 hour program as part of the Manitou Springs 150th Anniversary celebration. The program honors our city’s humble beginnings as a Health Resort.
Drs. Harriet Leonard and Julia E. Loomis were the first documented medical school graduates in the area. Their story is the beginning of the line of female doctors who followed. Doris will cover their story and that of other Women Doctors who received their state license prior to 1900.
Doris will expertly tell the stories of these bold brave Women and the challenges they faced. You will learn what it was like to attend medical school back then, the medicine and treatments they used and more.
The event will be held on the rooftop deck of the Historic Spa Building in downtown Manitou Springs. This event is free, but registration is required due to limited capacity. Register now! http://www.eventbrite.com/e/under-the-stone-early-women-doctors-in-evergreen-cemetery-tickets-341223186737
